The Path To Success

I have to admit, I've never found anyone who's NOT looking for the path to success. In fact, I'd imagine that if you're reading this right now, that the path to success is something that you're particularly keen on. And that's an admirable trait.

So how does one find it?

The answer - as with most of life's weighty questions - is deceptively simple at the surface, yet runs much deeper than you would expect. Huh?

What I mean by that, is: success is easy. And the best part is, you get to define your own success. For instance, if you have defined success as achieving a certain financial goal, your success is easily defined as that goal. All you have to do is achieve it. And there's the rub - that's where it gets difficult for many people.

See, most people set wild goals for themselves. "I'm going to make a million dollars by 2010." Great goal - but if you've never made $10,000 dollars - a million is a tough nut to swallow. Now that said, I still recommend the goal - its great. BUT, you have to set some milestones along the way. For example, you could set a goal of $1,000 before Summer. $5,000 before the end of the year. $10,000 before the end of the first quarter of next year, and so on. These goals, while increasing in severity, are now pulled into bite-sized chunks.

And the best part is, you get to achieve success on an ongoing basis - building from one success to another. Another thing you're doing with this plan, is utilizing what I call, "Future Vision". Future Vision is what allows you to focus on the next goal until you achieve it. It allows you to set a number of milestone goals en route to a master goal.

All successful people have shown that using Future Vision is a strong key to their achieving their goal. The hard part was maintaining that focus - that Future Vision - for long enough to achieve that goal. Remember, Harlan Sanders tried hundreds of times to sell his chicken recipe - but he KNEW it would be a success. He saw where it was going. Thomas Edison tried hundreds of different configurations until he got the light bulb right. I guess you could say his Future Focus was bright!

What's your goal? Have YOU broken it down to milestone goals? Have you set your Future Focus?

As I said - Success is easy... getting there - that's the challenge - and the fun!!

Cool New Site

OK - so myabe I'm a little biased since its also my site - but I wanted anyone who's reading this blog to check it out. I've created a program for Financial Advisors. I call it the "19 Secrets of Superstar Financial Advisors".

I've found that there are certain things that the best always do... and that the rest are essentially oblivious to. This 19 part e-course highlights these attributes that rise the best above the rest. Of course, its focussed for Financial Advisors, but a lot of the principles translate - so even if you're not a Financial Advisor, it might make sense for you to check it out.

Either way you slice it, it will give you Better Sales Results.
